The Charity Commission has issued a statement confirming that Khalid Sofi has been appointed as Interim Manager of Newbury Park Masjid. Those interested can read the Charity Commission’s statement in full here: Charity regulator appoints Interim Manager to Newbury Park Masjid - GOV.UK

As Interim Managers, this firm is asked by the Charity Commission from time to time to govern charities to the exclusion of their former trustees to correct discrepancies in their processes and set them on a footing which is sustainable for the future. In the case of Newbury Park Masjid, this involves organising a membership recruitment campaign, with regard to the charity’s governing document, and engaging the local community in the process. We are also comprehensively reviewing and amending the charity’s governing document to ensure it is workable and easy to follow and implement. In due course, we will arrange the charity’s next Annual General Meeting so members can elect trustees in accordance with the provisions of the charity’s governing document. Our final role as interim managers will be to review the outcome of that Annual General Meeting and induct the new trustees, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities going forward.
Should you require any further information or advice on the role of interim managers or the responsibilities of trustees, please do not hesitate in contacting Khalid Sofi (Khalid.Sofi@LBMW.com) or Nicholas Thompson (Nicholas.Thompson@LBMW.com) in our Charity and Not for Profit department.
