Nicholas Thompson
Nicholas is an Associate in our Charity & Not for Profit department
Nicholas qualified as a solicitor in the Charity & Not for Profit Department in September 2025. He joined LBMW as a Commercial Property paralegal in July 2022 before starting as a trainee solicitor in September 2023. Whilst a trainee, Nicholas completed seats in our Education Ecclesiastical & Charities, Commercial Property, Private Client, and Litigation Commercial & Family departments.
Nicholas read for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Classics at the University of Nottingham and graduated in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Following this, he completed the GDL and LPC at BPP University (London) from January 2021 to July 2022.
In his spare time, Nicholas volunteers with the Scouts in running National & State Events and the Scouts London Livery Affiliation Programme and sings with the Royal Choral Society and his parish church choir.
Nicholas assists with a wide range of charity & not for profit matters including:
- Creating new charities, updating charity constitutions, and linking charities;
- Advising on Charity Commission investigations and supporting the firm’s role as Charity Commission-appointed interim managers;
- Advising on faith and humanitarian aid charities;
- Advising on education, Scouting, and young people’s charities;
- Advising on art and heritage charities; and
- Advising on the establishment and governance of trusts, including tax treatment, and the preparation of trust deeds.
